The Founders
“The single biggest threat to our planet is the destruction of habitat and along the way loss of precious wildlife. We need to reach a balance where people, habitat, and wildlife can co-exist – if we don’t everyone loses … one day.” —Steve Irwin
Peg and Roger Markle formed Wildlife Rehab Center Ltd in December 2002 after years of caring for abandoned and injured wildlife in the greater Grand Rapids area. We are an independent, nonprofit, volunteer organization dedicated to offering the West Michigan area a reliable, high-quality resource for the rehabilitation of orphaned, abandoned, injured, or incapacitated wildlife. Licensed by both the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, we offer a very high level of practical experience, know-how, contacts, and confidence. Working with us is a professional and simple way to guarantee the swift and humane return of wounded animals and migratory birds to their natural habitat.
